POETRY AT THE PUBLIC HOUSE

To Laura

 

The room is full of people, lovely people,
who seem to hang from every word we say.
The air is full of verse, or sometimes music,
and impregnated with a sense of spell.

Our time appears suspended for an evening,
while English words of rivers freely flow,
then turn into Italian, down new rivers;
but you, you waft away over the Thames.

I find it hard to concentrate on doing
what I am, after all, here to do (my poetry)
while you, a Muse, are sitting here, so close,
beautiful, as ever – magnificent and more!

HALLUCINATORY TELEPHONY

I walk around this city,
now suddenly inhabited
by phones, instead of people.

I see them at street corners,
I see them at road ends;
I see them where they are,
and even where they’re not!

A drunk may dream of bottles,
but I see only telephones –
the bottles for themselves,
but phones my means to you!

Per alcuni, l’estate significa le tanto agognate ferie,
da trascorrere obbligatoriamente al MARE…
Per altri, è il tempo di andare rigorosamente
solo in MONTAGNA!

Ci si aspetta sempre che l’estate porti anche il bel tempo,
però ormai sappiamo bene che spesso non è più così …

Dall’estate, direttamente o indirettamente
e come da tutte le altre cose della Vita,
i Poeti traggono ISPIRAZIONE.

Durante la serata, il nostro pubblico potrà anche ammirare
alcune opere dello scultore feltrino Mauro Ricci!

JEUX INTERDITS

di PoetaMatusèl

 

 

Leggera, come libellula nell’aria,
volteggi fra i tuoi veli sfidando
alcune delle leggi fondamentali
di quella che noi chiamiamo fisica.

Poi, giocoliera fantasmagorica,
fai roteare oggetti come pensieri
e mi allontano solo per non rischiare
che diventi un attrezzo per giocolare
questa vecchia palla che sarebbe
stata, in tempi remoti, forse un cuore.

Ora strabili, impavida, con le tue torce,
mentre io (ma è forse già troppo tardi?)
mi pongo a debita distanza di sicurezza:
perché con il fuoco io non posso giocare!
