TO HELL WITH SILLY OLD SAYINGS!

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder,
but I would rather say my heart is suffering,
not knowing if or when it may be feasible
for us to meet in flesh and bones, not ether.

They say that love – if true – is unrequited,
but I prefer the notion that you love me,
were it even for the shortest of all seasons.

They say the fire of love, once it is lit,
burns out inexorably, faster than a comet;
yet I choose to disregard silly old sayings,
and let your fire consume me with its flames,
incinerating the dark forests of my soul –

so that after you no Love may ever follow!

POETS ARE PRETTY GOOD AT THEM!

Why should the two of us ever have met,
defying all statistical fate and probability?
We didn’t have to sail Mediterranean Seas
(our beloved and yet bloody Mare Nostrum),
nor did we have to climb the Atlas Mountains,
nor cross your deadly yet fascinating deserts…
It took few clicks to get together in the ether,
but now I dream of you in scenes geographical,
compare your skin to moons of unknown beauty,
and promise we shall meet in The Bard’s theatres!
So, is it Love, or simply Spanish castles in the air?
